An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and motivated individual to become part of the dynamic team at Access Hire Nationwide (Access Hire is the leading hirer of MEWPS in the UK. ). We are seeking an experienced manager with strong engineering knowledge to lead our team of skilled access engineers and oversee our major repair facility.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 3 years previous experience within an Automotive or Engineering Workshop/ Repair Centre management role, demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills and be highly organised with a passion for delivering operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Operational Leadership
- Provide effective management and leadership to all engineering staff within the depot.
- Ensure the team are fully motivated, developed and working toward Company targets
- Manage the Hoist Engineers and liaise effectively with 3rd party contractors and internal support functions
- Support HR with general HR processes including recruitment, disciplinary investigations and absence management
- Oversee resource planning, ensuring appropriate staff coverage and approving holiday requests
Workshop and Engineering Management
- Oversee day to day workshop operations and major repair facility workflows, to ensure efficient repair, refurbishment and turnaround of our equipment
- Support engineering staff on technical matters and ensure all objectives are met within expected quality and time standards.
- Maintain responsibility for company assets, ensuring they are tracked, protected, and used correctly.
- Ensure the workshop and yard areas remain clean, organised and compliant with company standards
Performance, Reporting & Data Management
- Collate and interpret data on build programmes, KPI’s and operational performance
- Produce operational and financial reports as required.
- Forecast future depot workload and ensure successful delivery of planned activities
- Identify underperformance or non-compliance, initiate corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement
Stock, Parts & Procurement
- Work closely with the Stores Person to ensure all spares and ancillaries are ordered inline with preferred supplier lists.
- Maintain optimal stock levels to support timely refurbishments and repairs.
- Ensure all hoist repairs are scheduled effectively and completed promptly.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Uphold and enforce the company’s health and safety policies and procedures across all depot operations.
- Act as a worker representative at H&S committee meetings, raising employee concerns or improvement ideas.
- Work with the EHS Manager on all health and safety matters including depot checks, training, incidents, equipment maintenance and new starter inductions.
- Identify training needs and, where necessary, deliver one-to-one coaching or arrange external training
General
- Complete weekly timesheet verification and sign-off.
- Follow all company policies, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform any additional duties as requested by the Operations Manager.
Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum 3 years previous experience within an Automotive/Engineering Workshop or Repair Centre environment.
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse engineering workforce and influence positive operational performance.
- Proactive, hands-on mindset with high attention to detail.
- Competent in performance reporting, data interpretation, and KPI management.
