Do your business the Power of Good – with the UK’s most advanced ECO welfare fleet.

Why choose Welfare Hire?

Hybrid-powered, low-noise welfare and lighting units that help reduce emissions, cut operating costs and elevate ESG performance across highways projects.
From rapid deployment and HIAB-free setup to remote diagnostics and smart servicing, we keep your highways projects moving 24/7 with zero compromise on compliance or wellbeing.
We operate the UK’s largest modern fleet of ECO mobile welfare units, lighting towers and welfare vans, trusted across regional, national and major framework schemes across the UK.
With almost two decades’ experience and proven performance on critical highways projects like A46 Binley Bypass, Smart Motorways and the A629, our fleet is engineered to perform where others fall short.

Smart ECO
Mobile Welfare Units
Eco hybrid power. Total visibility. Maximum uptime. Our towable welfare cabins are purpose-built for 24/7 operations, delivering comfort, compliance and real-time telemetry for better planning. With advanced solar-lithium hybrid power systems, they cut fuel use by over 97% and reduce emissions on every shift. Each unit features water-flush toilets, heated drying rooms and XL interiors delivered without the need for HIAB transport or external power hookup to deploy safely.
ULEZ
Compliant Welfare Vans
Fast, flexible welfare for mobile highways teams - Ideal for inspections, night works and emergency callouts, our ULEZ-compliant welfare vans support mobile teams working across busy urban and roadside sites. Each vehicle includes toilet and wash facilities, PPE drying space and an onboard canteen with seating, heating and lighting. Available in Hybrid or fully electric ZEV options, they provide instant, all-in-one welfare with minimal setup and maximum flexibility for highways operations.
Lithium Hybrid
LED Towers
Lighting that’s safe, silent and built for the road - Eco-friendly and ultra-efficient, our lithium hybrid lighting towers are designed to support night-time operations and emergency closures while reducing disruption. Silent-running with superbright LEDs, they cut emissions and noise while maximising visibility. Each tower light illuminates an area up to half a football field, meets Section 61 requirements, and can operate for up to 965 hours between refuels with minimal environmental impact.

See what our customers have to say....

The A46 Binley Bypass project in Coventry, spearheaded by National Highways, aimed to alleviate one of the region's most significant traffic bottlenecks, thereby promoting economic growth. The initiative focused on enhancing the Binley junction to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. In alignment with commitments to achieve net-zero emissions by 2035 for the client and 2040 for National Highways the project integrated sustainable solutions into its execution. Welfare Hire's mobile ECO welfare and lighting units played a pivotal role, offering silent, green running that minimised operating costs and transportation needs while maximising productivity. This collaboration resulted in substantial savings: 110,750 liters of fuel, 221,415 kg of CO₂ emissions, and £271,695 in costs.

With the largest and most modern fleet of innovative ECO units in the market, underpinning high specification and standards of quality enables delivery of high-quality work to optimise project productivity

Sustainable Products that go further...

The A629 Improvement Scheme, a £27 million initiative, stands as the end client’s most significant civil engineering investment in decades. Aimed at reducing journey times by up to 30%, the project encompasses the creation of a new link road and junction, road widening, enhanced pedestrian and cyclist facilities, a new bus lane, and landscaping efforts. Given the project's environmental scrutiny, Welfare Hire's ECO welfare units and lighting towers were specified for their demonstrable ESG benefits. This collaboration led to substantial savings: over 21,500 litres of fuel, 56 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, and £37,726 in costs. The modern, efficient equipment not only met environmental targets but also ensured high-quality, uninterrupted project delivery.

Using sustainable products that go further with reductions in fuel and emissions is a winner with our local government client. With Welfare Hire, the data on power use is kept so we can fully demonstrate those savings.

Cut Downtime. Lower Emissions. Stay Road-Ready

Hybrid power. Less emissions. Lower fuel costs.
Minimal fuel spend, reduced risk from onsite fuel handling, and significantly lower carbon output help highways projects hit ESG targets and reduce operating costs.
Smarter servicing. More uptime.
Remote telemetry manages preventative maintenance, avoids breakdowns and extends service intervals, all reducing disruption on critical, time-sensitive roadworks.
Rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling
Rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling enable long-life operation on expansive or remote sites, boosting efficiency and cutting water waste.
Built-in carbon reporting for highways frameworks.
Track usage, monitor emissions and benchmark performance to meet internal KPIs and evidence ESG compliance on RIS3 frameworks.

Poor Welfare Isn’t Just a Risk - It’s a Roadblock.

Inadequate welfare is more than a compliance issue. On highways projects, it’s a reputational, operational and commercial liability.

HSE enforcement and shutdowns
With increased scrutiny across highways works, compliance gaps can trigger site closures, fines and legal exposure.

Delays and disruption

Outdated or underperforming welfare leads to downtime, especially during night shifts, rolling closures and critical infrastructure works.

Framework and brand damage
Failing to meet modern ESG and welfare standards can jeopardise your status on frameworks and cost you future contracts.

We help eliminate compliance risks before they halt progress.
Because behind every road project, there’s welfare that keeps it moving.

Demand is rising. Availability is tightening.

Framework contractors are locking in welfare in advance for:

  • Modern, smart ECO sites with the latest in welfare and lighting
  • ESG and wellbeing compliance in National Highways tenders
  • Road schemes needing silent, green running with autonomous solutions
